WHY DO I NEED A LAWYER?

WHAT IS A TITLE SEARCH?

A land title search is a vital part of the process when buying and selling a property. A title search shows the owners of the property you intend to purchase and the liens registered against that property.

WHAT IS NEEDED TO GET STARTED ON MY REAL ESTATE TRANSACTION?

Getting started on the sale or purchase of a property requires the following:

  • a firm real estate purchase contract detailing the names of the seller and buyer, the property in question, the price, and the possession date
  • if you are buying the property and getting a mortgage, your lender must send the mortgage instructions to your lawyer
  • if you are selling your property, your real estate agent must send the conveyancing documentation to your lawyer
  • when selling your property, you will need a Real Property Report with Municipal Compliance
